Stack your phone

How many times do you find that you are drifting in thought and focus, not staying in the moment?  In our time-starved world it seems that this is becoming more and more prevalent.  And if we are to stay true to our THPL mission we really do need to stay focused – how else can we deliver exquisite performance in all that we do?  How can our performance improve if we hop from one thing to another without proper focus and follow through?  The good news is that we have a few techniques that we can use to bring ourselves back, to stay focused and to have the level of execution we need.

One culprit is our phones which are with us just about 100% of the time – and we all know that they present a distraction risk that is sometimes less than optimal.  The question is what do we do about it?  Might I suggest that when you find yourself in a situation that matters, being with smart people, or doing drills, or reading an important passage that we “stack our phone”.  Put it down, screen side down - if you are with others stack them on top of each other.  And then get on with the task at hand.  Stay true to the important and leave the distraction for later when the impact is less.  It will most likely take some practice to get this to happen but when you do it successfully you will start to see your execution improve and your results get better.  Short bursts of focused time are way better than scattered and distracted.  And you will be much better for it.  So, go and stack that phone and enjoy the moment of serenity and productivity

Loving life when my phone is stacked.
