Forget the Crowd

Our training plans form the foundation of our fitness goals.  They guide us, push us, and set goals and targets for us to achieve.  And it takes a lot to stick to them.  We often talk about creating habits, not just goals and when we do this we improve our chances for success.  And in creating our habits the key is to keep the formula simple.  In this case that means planning on getting it done by yourself.  Yes, to meet our goals it is all about getting used to being alone on our journey.  It is about learning to appreciate that training by yourself is fun, it gives you flexibility, it reduces excuses suggested by others and it creates a consistency that is how habits are formed.  Yup, you will soon love training by yourself. Once you get this approach dialed-in you can think about how you can go out on team runs/rides etc – think of them as fun on top of fun, or extra-credit.
