Great Time for a Hike

Often we think about waiting for the weather to warm before we think about planning a hike or spending a lot of time outside walking. Well, it appears, as the temperatures drive to single digits, that there is no risk that winter will be ending all too soon, especially if you are in the northeast. So, I think we need to consider that maybe this time of year is actually perfect for a hike anyway. Just think, there are no mosquitos, or other bugs, sunburn risk is low, crowds are essentially nonexistent and even the trails look different when covered in snow. So, what are we waiting for? Seems to me that we need to get out there and enjoy the outdoors, the cold temps and the unique time of the year. All we need to do is to wear the proper amount of layers, cover hands and head and keep our feet warm with some nice wool socks. And with the Super Bowl just a few days away, and a lot of “temptations” around, there might even be more reasons to get out for a hike, or a walk in the woods on an amazing weekend day like we have ahead of ourselves. Sounds like a plan made for us, don’t ya think?
