January 1st was a short 40 days ago and many of us started the year with a set of goals, and aspirations, commitments and resolutions. And I am concerned that by now some of them have gone by the wayside or are at risk of being abandoned. But before we give up on our early progress and go soft on our THPL journey maybe we need a bit of structure, a reminder of sorts, that we need not abandon our goals – rather just take a bit of a different perspective to how to stay true to them. Here is an outline of how to think about taking back control and getting yourself on good path to achieving more than less:
1. Take stock – how have you done so far? What successes can you build from? Are the goals you set still interesting to you? What do you need to do to recommit?
2. Be consistent – figure out what fits best into your life. Don’t try to imagine what cannot be. Rather create plans that work , are realistic and stick to them
3. Give it time – Psychologists say it takes about 12 weeks to establish a new habit. Make small changes, make them at a regular pace and use time to your advantage – there is no rush – just leverage patience (the secret sauce) as it will make all the difference in the world
4. Get support – social support is critical to achieving your goals. Family, friends, coaches all play a role in keeping you focused and contribute to your ability to stick to your goals. When you have harmony with them and in life THPL blossoms.
The magic of THPL is in your heart and your head. Tap into it, use it well, and you will stay on the path to improved performance and a more fulfilled life. Enjoy……
Loving life and recommitted to my 2015 goals
