There is nothing like the feedback that we can get from our smartphone / GPS phones. They can tell us about a route we run, our pacing, our PB and they can instantly share “run data” around the globe to anyone who is interested. But there does come a time when we need freedom from the data, when we can go back to a time when we just liked going out for a run with no interruptions, no time / date stamp etc. And it is at this moment when we need to start unplugging and going back to a more pure form of running. How about we dump the phone / watch / tracker, once a week? The next time you reach for your fancy GPS/watch before you run, ponder this question: do you really need this thing for this run? The simple is answer is no. Technology and all the data that comes with it can be great with running, but it isn’t required all the time. The more data we try to gather, the more we will want to analyze, and the more we analyze every aspect of our run, the more we worry. So take at least one day a week to “unplug” from your devices.
