I found myself watching a TED video on my treadmill run today. It was the first one in quite some time and I enjoyed it (like a homecoming), the focus was the correlation between activity and health. Seems that more and more the studies show that active people live healthier lives, have better mortality, and can have a better quality of life at all stages and ages. The crazy part is that with the evidence so stacked in our favor it is hard to believe that only 20% of Americans meet the criteria for being active – that is 30 minutes of activity a day. The studies, discussed on the video, also showed that intensity, in the activity, manifested in interval workouts (even if you are 75 years old) had a positive, and additive, impact on all participants. Seems that the brain and body harmonize when they are both active. They take care of each other better and the positive outcomes are quite clear and significant. THPL is just one iteration on this theme and it is great to see that the path we have taken on our journey is not only about personal fulfillment but also about our health and wellness. The implications are big and broad and it is great to be on the right side of this conversation.
Loving life, when active and active and active.
