Metaphors are so much fun – they help us understand, they make us smarter and they just feel good. And while on our THPL journey we have more and more opportunities to learn and be informed by those things that have gone before us in thought and action (aka a metaphor). And on a recent hike, as the sun set, we hit this head on when we concluded we would ok if we were guided “by the light of the moon”. Knowing that it would be less light than the bright sun did not worry us - we all felt ok with having just enough moon light to make it out of the mountains. And it go me to thinking, that with the proper perspective we can do more (or at least the same) with less. We can have less light and still be safe. With less light we would embrace the situation differently – we had to call on all senses to navigate, we had to be more attune to our surroundings and we had to stay focused on getting out. In fact having less light made us better. So, next time you have “less light” in whatever you are doing, appreciate the situation for all that it is and know that so much of what we need to move forward is in us. We can indeed make it wherever we want to go “by the light of the moon” – what a wonderful thought it is!
Loving life, with moon beams all around
