This phrase, “green shoots” has transferred the feeling of growth and renewal to other parts of life. Economists use it, pundits use it and I think that in THPL parlance we should use it. It seems to me that there is often a “green shoot” that shows itself on our journey, or that of others in our THPL community, and it is this kind of moment that we need to seize on. Why, because it shows that much of the hard work that went into planting that seed, or building that capability, is paying off, progress is being shown in a very literal way and from it we should be charged up and excited about what is next, how we will continue to grow, how far will it take us. Exciting indeed and something that we should all keep watch for….when you find those “green shoots” call them out, recognize them, celebrate them and be motivated to continue. It might be hard to find a better measure that shows that we are making progress on the journey.
