What do you say

With all of the effort that goes into preparing for the Olympics, the hours, days, weeks, years of practice and racing there is a moment that seem hard to practice for.  What do you say when you win a gold medal?  With all of the technology present and our ravenous appetite for real time information, it is barely a few minutes from the end of a race, when the athlete has put all they have into the race, and come up with a gold medal when we want to hear from them the answer to the big question.  So how do you feel about your win?  What can you tell us?  We need to know.  And it is nothing short of remarkable how many times the “spent” athlete comes out with a humble, interesting, and compelling answer to a question that should have the benefit of a little more “soak” time before answering.  And so maybe it is that it is just one more element of what is practiced, maybe it is just that at the end of such an amazing journey that you are indeed ready to answer the question.  It says a lot about these amazing athletes – they visualize the win – and put everything in their life to the goal – even the post race questions.  It is a lesson for all of us to take notice of on our THPL journey – let’s put everything we have into what we pursue and let’s be ready for the question when we get it.  It is a moment that is worth being ready for……
