THPL, the journey, the experiences, the life that we live….they are all dependent on our “partners” on mother earth. We rely on so much from animal to insect to plant to tree to air to water, well, you name it, all that is around us is vital to our ability to live a sustainable THPL life. And we have to make explicit our care for our partners. We cannot take for granted their longevity nor their permanence. We know, though, that a healthy planet requires all of us to work together to optimize the place that we all live. It is thus worrisome, when a bumble bee (one species for now) is put on the endangered species list. Bees are at the center of healthy foods and healthy plants and so much more. There is little real explanation for why the population of this beautiful creature has declined 90% in the past twenty years. For the moment, we need to take this as a warning sign that something might not be right. That we have to think carefully about the impact of what we do as we traverse our THPL journey. There is always hope and possibility when take moments like this and do something about it. Protecting bees is just a start. Let’s protect our partners broadly and we will have a beautiful place to play out our THPL lives for years to come.
