The journey is long, it takes a lot of endurance and determination to keep going. And yet we know that there are other techniques and approaches that are required if we are to get better as we press forward. The way to keep our body developing and growing is to push it hard from time to time, to add intensity to our fitness regime. Intervals, with intensity, is a great way to trigger the body to develop, to grow, to get stronger, more resilient (and faster). Once a week is all we need – a set of intervals, five of them or ten of them. We go very hard for a short period of time and then we recover and do it again and again. It needs to feel hard to get the maximum benefit, so let’s give it a true “college try”. We will learn to love these moments as we see our performance get better over time. Time to schedule an interval day!
