We are quite dependent, while on our THPL journey, of the way that others (and we) use the finite resources that we have on our planet. And we know that each and every one of us is responsible for living a sustainable life where we care about how much we reduce, reuse and recycle. Well, we have a bit of “good” company who have decided to take a very real and material action to reduce plastic pollution around the world. Just this week 275 companies, retailers, recyclers, governments, and NGO’s committed to eradicating plastic waste and pollution. Their vision is defined with six key points:
Elimination of problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging through redesign and innovation
Reuse models are applied where relevant, reducing the need for single-use packaging
All plastic packaging is 100 percent reusable, recyclable or compostable
All plastic packaging is reused, recycled or composted in practice
The use of plastic is fully decoupled from the consumption of finite resources
All plastic packaging is free of hazardous chemicals, and the health, safety and rights of all people involved are respected.
The power of the brands who signed off on the commitment is significant and lays the foundation for follow through and global awareness, the companies involved are Burberry Group, Carrefour, Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, Danone, Diageo, H & M, Henkel, L’Oréal, Marks and Spencer, Mars, Nestlé, Philips, SC Johnson, Sealed Air, Stanley Black & Decker, Target, Unilever and Walmart
There is so much more we can all do to make this world livable for years to come and it makes it easier when there is a good organization, a good plan and lots to come, an exciting moment for sure
Loving life when we start to take care of the planet
