While on this THPL journey we have the opportunity to see a lot and meet a lot of different kinds of people. Many of the people are rather intense about their habits, hobbies, likes, and opinions. And from this comes a whole host of very interesting examples of what happens when we start to push to increasing levels of intensity and performance. For some reason, lately, there have been quite a few stories of van living and the lifestyle that drives one to ditch the norm and live in a few square feet of space and on top of an engine ready to take us wherever we want to go. And while this lifestyle is not for the majority, there are some interesting themes that we can seize on in our more “traditional” lives.
· Really how much stuff do we need to live?
· What does one eat when the grocery store is not all that close?
· Do we really need a shower every day?
· We can visit anywhere a tank of gas can take us….where do we go?
· Do we really need a TV and Netflix
Of course, the list could be much longer and there is no right or wrong answer…and most likely some passionate views as well. What matters is that we should consider how we live and an easy way to do it is to compare to other styles and approaches. We might come to the conclusion that what we are doing is exactly perfect for us – or we might consider a few options. Either way, the thought process is a good one and van life might just not be that bad….
Loving life when living “the van life”
