Appreciating what we have

Like any skill that we will build upon while on our journey learning to appreciate what we have takes a little practice and intention.  All too often we take for granted what we have, or we don’t fully understand the intrinsic value of what we have.  To truly appreciate something, we need to remind ourselves of what it is we like about what we have or what we are doing. When we find ourselves enjoying an experience or something that we have, we should ask ourselves what makes it special, what it might remind us of, and precisely why we are enjoying it. We can also learn to appreciate something by sharing it with someone.  The act of sharing shows us the value of what we have and the impact that it can have on others.  So, we can indeed learn to appreciate what we have – all we need is to put in a bit of effort and thought and be aware that all that we have is not to be taken for granted.  Rather we are to appreciate what we have and feel good about it all the time.

Loving life when I appreciate what I have
