We all know that while on our journey it is essential that we live to the values that we espouse. Part of what we work towards is living a principled life, values-based, inclusive, and committed to fairness and equality for all. We each get the opportunity to show this by the choices we make and the life that we live. And the president-elect Joe Biden just made a choice that reflects our value system. He has chosen representative Deb Haaland from New Mexico to be Secretary of the Interior. If confirmed Haaland will be the first Native American to run the Department of the Interior. It is a statement about a true commitment to working on America’s wildlife and climate crises and in a sincere way engaging with Native American Tribes and Indigenous communities. A true move in the right direction.
