Is it that opportunity is always there for us and we just avoid it, do we find an excuse that gives us the way out, is it our apprehension that keeps us from trying something new? A “No” could indeed come from any and all of those reasons. The issue for us, though, is that the reasons are rarely satisfying. It’s because the reasons do not contemplate the learning that we will gain when doing something new or different. At that “No” moment we rarely think about how great it will feel with the sense of accomplishment that comes from taking that first step and sticking with it. “No” seems to cost us nothing but in fact it inhibits growth and it could have us miss that opportunity that might just be a game-changer. So, if we turn it around and use “No” only when there is no other way, we might indeed find out that our world of opportunity just got that much bigger.
Loving life when I don’t say no
