For all of us who have competed in an ultra-endurance event, there is that moment when we are more than half the way to the finish, and we realize that we have a long way to go and it is time to settle in. We start the self-talk, reminding ourselves that we are going to be there for a while. It is a learned behavior, that is, it takes some time to drop the frustration that we are not done with the race and to accept that it is going to take time to get to the finish line. Well, this Covid-19 pandemic feels something like the ultra-race. We are uncomfortable, the finish seems far away, we don’t like the feeling and yet we know that we have to keep moving forward if we are to get to the end. It will be uncomfortable, but it is going to be ok as we are working in the right direction. No time to get off track, no time to find another path – just time in the situation, accepting what we have to accept and doing our best to stay on track and get to that finish line in one piece.
Loving life when I settle in and accept the challenge
