In times of uncertainty, we have a natural inclination to be tentative. It seems kind of logical; if we do not know exactly what is going to happen or what is ahead then we slow down, we move with caution. There are implications, though, to this strategy because when we slow down, we make less progress, we can miss an opportunity and we can get stuck in a place that we really do not want to be. It is in fact in times of uncertainty when real opportunity is created by the disruption that is going on around us. When we lean in, when we put in an extra effort, when we look forward not backward, a new set of choices and opportunities avail themselves to us. We can then grab hold and start working them and moving in a new and different direction. We take control and create our future one that is full of excitement and possibility. Yes, let’s start by leaning in – we will be better for it.
Loving life when I lean in
