We are in the middle of a most interesting and at some level confounding time in our lives. We are in the midst of a pandemic and we have no idea how long it will last and what the true implications of this circumstance will bring us. But if we dig deep and do some reflection, we will realize that how long the pandemic will last is undeterminable. We do not have enough data or experience to know and we really need to leave that answer to the historians, or at least the scientists who will in real-time give us, at some point, the all-clear sign. Till then we need to put our energies into what matters now, what we can control, and how we should feel about this point in our journey. Yes, what matters now might feel simple and of less impact, but it is what we should focus on – like eating a nourishing meal, staying in touch with family and friends, taking a walk and staying active, petting the dog, or just getting the right amount of sleep. When we focus on what matters now, we will make the best of the times that we are living through and it will prepare us and get us ready for that day when we do get the all-clear sign. In the meantime, let’s keep plugging away with what matters and role modeling the right behavior for the times. It really does matter what we do now, it really does.
Loving life when I focus on what matters
