Our journey is full of a lot of hellos and goodbyes. They are part of how life plays out. In Italian, the Ciao salutation can be used for both hello and goodbye. Yet, we know that there are times when the goodbye is more than a casual greeting. It can be when we move from one location to another, when we change jobs, when we leave school and so much more. And when we find ourselves saying goodbye in a more substantive manner, it matters what we say and how we want to leave behind whatever we are leaving. Taking the right care and attention, and showing feeling and emotion, is important to the moment as it will be remembered for some time to come. The saying goes, that “goodbye does not have to mean forever” but goodbye does present an opportunity to do it right for all parties involved, yes indeed.
