We go on our journey, and we do it with the idea that each and every one of us has an equal and inalienable right to make of our journey what we want it to be. We need no one else’s permission and no one has a right to get in the way of what we want to do and how we want to live. But somewhere along our broader journey, some people, adopted a rather selfish and unfair view that some have more rights and privileges than others. The truth is this is unacceptable, and we need to do something about it. It starts with a recognition, like Pride Month, and it continues with educating people on the full rights of all of us to live equal lives. We have work to do to get to a good place. On the way there, let’s make an effort to role model the behavior that shows we are all equal and that’s it. No debate, just the facts.
