The expression “a bird in the hand” is all about the wisdom of valuing what we have in our possession. We have it, it is a good starting point and for sure we should appreciate anytime that we have some kind of security through a possession. But we also need to know that we cannot become complacent; that what we have now might not be enough, or satisfying, or lasting. We have to keep our focus on our evolving life’s journey, and we need to make sure that we do not get blocked by what worked before. The old saying that what got us here may not get us there is always relevant and a good reminder that a bird in the hand is wonderful but not sufficient.
