A declaration of independence

For as long as most of us have a memory, we know that July 4th is the day that Americans celebrate Independence Day.  The day commemorates when the Thirteen Colonies declared they were no longer subject to the monarch of Britain and were now united, free, and independent states.  And while this happened over 200 years ago the feeling that it engenders is palpable and a great reminder that no matter what our circumstances, we can choose to be free, to be independent, to craft a better and more equitable and united state of being.  It is what we get to choose to do every day and it is key that we hold this unalienable right precious and eternal.  So, here’s to a reminder that it is up to us to live the life of our choice and make it better all the time and forever.

Loving life when I am reminded that I am free and independent
