There are “truths” that we come to know along our journey, and it is good to remind ourselves of what we know and what we learn. A truth? Success is not a surprise. No one catapults to the top. Behind every seemingly effortless achievement lies a relentless grind, a well thought out plan, and by the way, a lot of effort. Our big break is created when we take the first step and the step after that and again and again. We learn by trial and error that we create our own opportunities. And when we set audacious goals and break them down into actionable steps we get quite far down the path. The more we apply ourselves and get ready for the challenges the less surprise has any place on our journey.
