Sometimes, people say that we are either the elephant or the rider; it is that pithy way of pointing out the role that we are playing in our lives. But maybe we need to think about a more expansive view and consider that we can be even more when we add being an observer on our journey. Everywhere we go, we have an opportunity to observe, to ask why, to learn, and to appreciate the why. It is a bit like crowd-sourcing; through observation, we can learn from a big group who all had different reasons and experiences that led them to live the way they do. Observing sets us up to evolve to a better place. The goodness is that we don’t have to figure it all out ourselves, we can share the figuring with others who are also putting in effort to solve for a problem. Observing truly is the way that we benefit from the shared experience of our community, and for this, we are all better.
Loving life when I am an observer
