National Running Day

Since 2009, the country’s foremost running organizations have worked together to celebrate running with tens of thousands of participants on the first Wednesday of June. The day is meant to encourage runners to celebrate by planning a run, spreading the running bug to a friend, signing up for a race, or setting a new goal.  If you are a runner (or soon to be) it is a cool idea.  Today is a simple celebration of running.  The day is designed to allow long time runners to reaffirm their love of running and also to encourage beginners to kick off a lifetime of running leading to a life-changing commitment.  It also is a way to facilitate the connection between running and charitable giving.  The charity theme is growing in its impact across the running community with literally millions of dollars raised for a variety of charities connected to running events.  And so on National Running Day everyone is encouraged to track their miles through Charity Miles and then help a cause of our choice with a donation at any level.

For the members of THPL National Running Day is a great day – it is a way to bring attention to running (and the associated physical and mental benefits) and also to extend and connect the running community by facilitating connections and celebrating the activity and it importance.  THPL loves these days!
