On Trying Different….

As I prepare for the first ever (hopefully soon to be annual) Scranton Half Marathon to be run on this coming Sunday, I find myself reflecting on the number of people who will, for the first time, run 13.1 miles.  To get there they needed to train through the cold and challenging winter that we are just finishing, they had to resist the urge to sit in front of a TV and do nothing, they had to learn how to dress for running, and to find out how it feels when you hurt all over from the many miles you have put in to get ready for the race.  What a great testament to what is possible.  In the world in which we live where society has set it up such that we can separate ourselves so easily from reaching into our hearts and our souls for the strength to do something different it is great to see that a new group of people are exploring what THPL tells us about our journey through life.

I am confident that many of the runners who have found that they like this “different” approach will seek it out again after Sunday.  And for this, they, and we are all better off.

Loving life and becoming different!

Ciao
