One Down, Eleven to Go

2014 is in full swing and while there is usually a great surge of momentum that comes in January from the various New Year’s Resolutions that have been made, we cannot rely on the newness of the year to be the sole motivator for achieving the goals that we set for ourselves for 2014 on our THPL journey.  And so, at this point, I am happy to report that I completed marathon one of the twelve that I have committed to for 2014.  The plan is to run one marathon a month and seeing as half of the month of January was already gone I needed to get to the task as hand.  And that is what I did today.  26.2 miles in the city of Charleston SC, the fourth running of the Charleston Marathon.  A very nicely organized event, a pretty venue, and flat course to aid with this early season marathon quest.  Not surprisingly the weather was more like winter than spring with a starting temperature around 36 and 25 mph winds.  None the less I pressed forward and prevailed.  Marathon number one in the books in a respectable time of 3:28 hours.  The plan for February is still to be set – March is scheduled in Tucson as is April in Boston and so the year should develop nicely, at least as far as this goal is defined.

And so it is, we bring to life the Dream it, Plan it, Practice it, and Do it mantra.  I trust the same is being played out for other members of our community and if not…..then you can just consider this a mild nudge to get those goals worked out and on track…..you will be happy for having done that after they are completed (as am I for getting marathon one done!)

Loving life with one more marathon in the books!

Ciao
