The Day I Found My Sense of Humor

I am not sure about you but I am learning to laugh more and more. Seems that every time I laugh, I feel better, happier and more content.  And so if this is the case then how could it be that you could ever lose your sense of humor? You might even suggest that if you feel better while laughing and after laughing that you would make sure to figure out how to do it more often. Yes, that sounds like it would be a good goal.  But before we go further, how about some info on the topic:

So how many times should you laugh in a day? (The average adult laughs 17 times a day)

Does the context matter?  It certainly does and there are three basic kinds of laughter:

  • Relief laughter is characterized by when we laugh after a tough situation turns out well – it is a release of pent up energy.
  • There is situational laughter caused by an inherent and humorous human  conflict, and ; there is
  • Superiority laughter which is triggered other human misfortune.

And so you might be wondering where this is going…. You might also wonder what THPL and laughter have in common.  My perspective is that THPL causes conflict between the need to laugh and the inability to laugh.  Yes, if you want to perform at a high level it is important not to take yourself too seriously, you might even want to laugh at yourself from time to time.  And then there is, of course, with THPL, the need to be quite committed to your goals and endeavors and thus you can potentially over dramatize situations and regard humor and laughter as “being weak” or “distracted”.

One more important point as it relates to laughter and THPL – it appears that one additional purpose of laughter relates to making and strengthening human connections. I am sure you can relate to the fact that laughter occurs when you are comfortable with other people and when they feel open and free. And the more laughter the more bonding that occurs within the group.  And so it appears that we human beings love to laugh,

So then it would appear that humor and laughter are essential attributes of THPL and that you should indeed practice it every day.  You should also check point yourself from time to time.  Did you laugh today?  And if not why not – don’t let a day go by without a least a good chuckle.  There is nary a role, job or circumstance that should keep this from happening.  When you do this and everyone around you does it then you, for certain, have advance your mission to life THPL and you will be happier for it.

Sally is my buddy, well not really, 3:26 + 20 seconds - it hurt tonight – I hear that one of our buddies got to the end of the song after working so hard to get there.  Congratulations go out to our THPL partner – this is  very exciting moment.  I, did, to the appointed round do a few more pushups - 220 to be exact on the 4:17 song, ugh……oops - I mean hahahaaha

Loving life and laughing ever day

Ciao
