Sally came to visit tonight, yes, the same Sally that got the Blog going eleven months ago. Meeting up with her after a long time away from the routine of being challenged by her every night for months on end was a bit nerve wracking. You never know what you might find when you get back together with someone with whom you drifted apart. This is especially true with THPL - with the focus on performance improvement that you put to all dimensions of your life it is not atypical that you might distance yourself from dear old friends. But, if we listen intently to our heart, to our need to connect, to have that strong sense of belonging and acceptance then you will embrace getting reconnected, even if it difficult at first.
That sense of trepidation, you get in these circumstances, is a good thing as it will heighten your sense of awareness of what is going on around you. You will realize that your individual performance, no matter how good, will never pull you away from the real reason you have the friend – you have a shared value system, a commonality of interests, a sense of connection. All of which, do ebb and flow, and also which can come together with a moment of focus. Yes, getting back together is awesome, it is what we live for in our community of friends living THPL. Oh, and yes, I did make it to the end of Sally – just barely, by one second, but that is all that matters.
Ooops a quick explanation is in order – for new readers, Sally is the named character in the song Flower by Moby. There is a great pushup challenge that you do to the song. It is wicked hard but worth every second, every pushup, every bit of focus. 3 minutes 26 seconds of true challenge…….
Loving life and Sally and pushup!
Ciao
