Many of the rules that we start with on our THPL journey are, in a more normal life, not in synch with how the majority of those around us live. In the time starved life , for example, it can be difficult to make sense of the benefits that sometimes we can get when we allow “normal” rules to be broken. Indeed it might just be ok to allow the important to trump urgent – in this case “urgent” being the need to go to sleep.
If it is urgent that we get to sleep but in so doing we miss an opportunity to doing something special then we might have missed an opportunity to capture a unique moment on our THPL journey. So, how about we change it up a little bit. What might happen if we commit to letting the decisions that we make to flow based on the circumstance and benefits that we get from allowing them to happen. That we not let strict rules guide us. Yes, it is easy to sleep more – to get the rest you “need”. But maybe there is just another way to settle your soul – maybe it is by doing that one extra thing that you love doing. The feeling that you get when you are done is usually remarkable. Maybe you really have something to gain – go for it – sleep less if necessary and find that meaning and benefit from the tradeoff that we normally do not make. You might be surprised with what you find.
