When we choose to live the THPL, to go on the journey, we do so understanding that to get the full effect of the experience, we need to “throw caution to the wind” and to do some things that on the surface seem illogical. It calls for us to do things without full understanding of the implications of the actions we take. Our THPL experience sets us out on this path confident we can complete the journey but not sure of how or the ramifications of doing so. There are many an example of this approach in the explorer world – we know the “big” stories – but the one’s that truly matter most to us are the one’s that we take on and complete ourselves and when we do we learn and experience more than would be possible under any other circumstance.
I set out on one of these THPL journey’s tonight – not another Ultra marathon but a journey of flight around the world in a short period of time. Over the next seven days I will make five overnight flights to five countries above and below the equator twice with the shortest flight of six hours. And during this trip – no hotel for those nights - just an airplane seat and my mindset to guide me forward. Saturday night to London, Sunday night to Mumbai, Tuesday night to Singapore, Wednesday night to Tokyo and Friday night to Sydney. About 50 hours of flying and a lot of “different” nights and disrupted routines. The journey begins now and I am not exactly sure what I will find. I am sure it will be interesting and different with a few highs and a few surprises. But what is there for us? if not the new and unknown? Our time starts now - what is your next THPL adventure?
Loving life sleeping on airplanes, for real…..
