For sure there are a lot of people who have taken two overnight flights in a row. And so in some ways there is not much "THPL like” to say about just the process of sleeping (well sort of) on a plane two nights in a row. Thirty hours of traveling is just what it takes to go from the US to India. And so as I start to finish up the second flight, on this incredible journey, and I get ready to head into meetings and more flights I continue to remind myself of a few key attributes of THPL that really are the difference makers for this kind of trip and then life in general. The plan for life and our THPL journey to be consistent, and resilient, with a heavy does of sticking to your commitments/follow through.
So, this means no matter where you are, the circumstance, or the location, we need to stick to our plan. This means for example stick to your exercise plan, eat the same foods you normally do (or a close approximation of them), expect to have something go wrong but don’t overreact; and stop trying to figure out what is doing in the time zone you came from. What matters is where you are. This kind of trip is a “flow” trip – the itinerary is defined – it is challenging by definition, so just follow the flow- let each leg deliver you to the next leg and it gets easier as you go along. The simplicity of thinking, that goes into making a trip like this work well, is a great metaphor for life. We do not need to overthink what we do, we just need to stick with the plan and let life, with our guidance, play out over time. It gets better when we accept it rather than fight it. So, yea, just make it work…..Why not??? BTW - India is beautiful and its differences from what we usually experience great for mind expansion. We are not all the same and this is a good thing
Loving life sleeping on airplanes, traveling the world, for real…..
