A Billion People

How about a bit of a switch to the learning side of THPL.  I have been captivated over the past week by the YouTube rendition of the Google I/O conference – their annual developer event.  Fascinating and revealing to say the least.  And as I listened in I was surprised to hear that they had a billion users across almost every product.  A few years ago this was a wild goal and now they were there across the board.  The battle for our thumbs and eyeballs is really on in full force and Google is hitting its stride.  Google has become the ultimate cloud and machine learning company.  Which means that they can be everywhere – and this can / should be a good thing.  Powering us along on our high performance journey with the right tools and capabilities is awesome (one day soon with off-line Google Maps).  And all of this brings with it a level of interest and question about their self-confident ambition to  be the platform for all and everything.  Wow, is the most relevant comment and something that we should all be watching and thinking about.  Let’s make sure we get enough benefits for the “loyalty” we show and all will be ok.  An interesting time it is for sure.
