Around us every day are great examples of how THPL can come to life. It comes to life when we (collectively or individually) decide to do something that takes life to the next level. It can even be just how we think. When I read about the new role of Director of Toughness at Columbia it reminded me that not only can we create a new and interesting job (this one sounds like a ton of fun), we can dream and imagine beyond the ordinary by just how we decide to think about life, in this case a job. What if they called the job, clothing tester instead of Director or Toughness? If they kept it “traditional” then who might have applied and what would they have thought of the job. For this new role, the applicant pool was big, the process very competitive and the resulting people who were hired thought they had “won something”. I am not sure of the last time that someone got a job that they thought they had won “something”. And, so it goes, THPL, a mindset, a decision to think differently, reflected in how the people at Columbia decided to think about a new opportunity. Free to dream – they dreamed so real that it came true – for all parties included. Maybe we all should dream, just a bit bigger and see what great things will come of it!
