If there ever was a group of people, who knowingly, or unknowingly lived the high performance life it is the Olympic athlete. They are a group of people who dedicate themselves to excellence in their chosen discipline, who commit their lives to the pursuit of superior performance and who make sacrifices along the way (to get there) that so few of us are willing to make. And along the way one of the sacrifices that they make is the financial impact that this life choice brings (essentially they paid very little to nothing for the work that they do). Because of USOC rules they have little to no way to generate enough income to keep them from living above the poverty level. We can help, though, if we choose. There is a crowd funding option.
