The day after the terrible shooting in Orlando and curiously it is Flag Day in the U.S. Yes, June 14th, the day that we commemorate the adoption of the American flag in 1777. For over two hundred years we have looked at the American Flag as a symbol of freedom, of opportunity, of respect and independence. When we see the flag we are reminded in an ever so subtle way that we live in a wonderful land that is part of an amazing world. And we can take more than just solace from the fact that we still celebrate the flag and its symbolism. It tells us that there is hope, that the cynics and the wrongdoers have not won the battle, that we, deep in our soul, want a world of respect, of peace and of hope. Flags and other symbols have a way of doing that. How we live is the other side. So, on this day after let’s keep our focus on all that is good, all that we can achieve, all that still needs to improve. THPL is one way to get there…..for sure….. To the memories of the fallen we commit our support for building a better and more amazing world. It is our responsibility. Happy Flag Day indeed…..
Loving life when I see the American Flag flying high above
