This past weekend was the running of one of the toughest ultra-marathons anywhere. The Hardrock 100 in Colorado, 33,000 feet of climb most of it over 12,000 feet of elevation and the race is epic by definition. So when two of the best ultra runners decided with ten miles to go that they would cross the finish line hand in hand it captures our attention. Killian Jornet, arguably today’s best ultra-runner, put it very well with the following statement“when you run long distances, its to share it with nature, and the environment, volunteers and the other runners. It is this kind of great attitude that defines ultra running, and when the runners decide that it is better to win together we see that even the most individual activity can be shared. Might we be able to bring this approach to our life – are there times when we can share in the win rather than hold it only to ourselves. It might be one of the best things that we can do. Hand in hand indeed…
Loving life when I share the win with others
