This week THPL is alive and well as over 7,500 runners from 87 countries assemble from August 22-26 in France to race one of five races that cross three countries 100 miles, and thousands of feet of elevation gain. Running around Mont Blanc (UTMB) in the French Alps is nothing short of a remarkable achievement and the fact that so many people would take on this challenge and push themselves to the limits of their personal endurance abilities is amazing. It is hard to see a single reason for any of the runners who come out to test themselves against the elements, the mountains and themselves. But it is clear that this week is all about human adventure and the desire to push ourselves to see what is possible. It is certain that many people will find more in themselves that they would ever imagine and as long as this happens events like this will continue to be held and continue to be attended. We each have an opportunity to find our own version of the UTMB and that might one day be a trot around Mont Blanc….a fine goal indeed
Loving life when I am part of an epic human adventure
