A bit of variety

It often seems hard to find a way to build a habit and while the THPL journey is habit forming it still takes focus, effort, and diligence to stick to a solid fitness plan.  So many things can get in the way and therein lies the risk to progress.   But maybe we have to think one level more deeply.  Maybe one of the core reasons that we cannot get a solid fitness lifestyle is because we get bored all too easily.  Our routine which is a formula for creating a habit could be part of the reason we break the habit.  So, instead of just using frequency and consistency as the way to create a solid fitness habit we should think about how we keep the curiosity level high, the interest level compelling and develop a passion for the game.  And the real way to do this is to bring variety to what we do.  Different exercises, different locations, different challenges, different times, different lengths, different repetitions…well, you get the idea.  The more we “mix” it up the better the chance that we will stick to the plan and the more frequent we will do it, and then, of course, the more robust the habit will be.  Creating a fitness habit, a lifestyle of sorts is not that hard – we just have to put a bit of thought and energy to it and amazing things will happen

Loving life when I have variety in my life
