With Sadness

The High Performance Life starts, and ends, with the right mindset.  And that mindset is focused primarily on believing that anything is possible.  That life can indeed be better than expected.  That we have full agency over ourselves and can pursue that which we choose to pursue and we can do it at extraordinary levels if we make it a life’s mission.  And with all of the positivity that we can have in our hearts there are moments of sadness that are appropriate and cannot be escaped.  They intersect with our lives at a time of its own choosing.  Sadness has no clock, nor calendar, rather just a human reaction to what happens around us.  To this point, it has been reported that, Ueli Steck, Swiss mountaineer extraordinaire, died in a climbing accident on Nuptse in the Himalaya.  He was prepping for an Everest assault and fell to his death while making an ascent of Nuptse.  The outdoors community lost an amazing guy today.  He pushed mountaineering to new levels and inspired many to take on big challenges themselves.  There is no good reason for a loss like this, it is sad and terrible and his amazing exploits will be forever remembered, and he will be missed.  Missed just like we miss anyone that we lose during our lifetime.  We press forward, even with sadness in our heart, as it is in each day, each challenge, each moment with each other that defines our meaning and our reason to be.  Our journey is still our journey, it is just somehow a bit different each time we lose someone close to the things we believe in.  Condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Ueli, he will be missed

Loving life even on sad days…
