One day to go, well sort of less, till I start the six continent challenge ….Six months of planning, a whole “heap” of effort, coordination, conversation, messaging, discussion, convincing, cajoling – and then some. And, now, it comes together in a single moment when will I push the button on my Garmin watch to start the run at the North Sydney side of the Harbor Bridge. But before that first step, a moment to be remembered and the proof that the world is full of great people. The Aussie team from Aspect hosted a send-off bbq for me and the mission. A spirit of camaraderie, a showing of support, a statement of belief in the mission. There could be no better way to start the run than to be with a team of supportive and selfless people who are giving of their time and hearts to be part of this amazing moment. I am humbled and appreciative in ways that are hard to describe and I am ready to step up and deliver on my part of the challenge. In some ways it is hard to imagine being here, yet, with the feeling getting stronger every minute and the magnitude of the challenge explicit there is only one thing to do – start running! Run Joe Run indeed…..
Loving life when I have a proper send-off
