When we are on our journey it seems that every challenge that we take on starts off like such a great idea. We are excited and naïve, enthusiastic and ready to go. My most recent challenge started just this way. Create a 100-day challenge – make it hard enough but not impossible - run at least ten miles, do 100 pushups, and 100 pullups every day. The first 100 were as we would expect and then the pandemic hit – what else to do but to stretch the goal to 200 days. It was not without challenge, yet 200 days came and went and I was on my way to 300 days. With the pandemic still in full force, these last 100 days felt just a bit harder. I amped up the mileage to 12+ miles a day and kept going. Each day felt both better and harder at the same time. And now 300 days are completed and 365 is the next milestone. It has been quite the journey, it takes a deep level of commitment because there are a plethora of reasons to stop or miss a day, there are issues and strains and there is the demon in our head telling us we have done enough. With all of that it still feels right and good to get to 300 days in a row – the challenge a right and just way to get to understand that which does not happen from the couch. New feelings, a good test of the soul, and an accomplishment that I can file away for years to come. Courage and curiosity combining to make for a special experience. 300 days a streak defining what our journey is really all about……amen
Loving life when I complete a 300-day challenge
