In this most unusual year, disruption has become the norm. That which we have been used to is not as it once was. In the world of road and trail racing most if not all races have been canceled and the few that are happening are being conducted with many restrictions. If there is a bright spot it is with the race directors who have become creative with how a race can be safely conducted and still be competitive and challenging. The annual Big’s Backyard world championship last person standing race is starting today and in a most creative way. The race is going on in 20 countries with teams of up to 15 racers, all starting at the same time and all virtually competing with each other. The format the same as always, everyone runs a loop of 4.167 miles in one hour or less and then keep doing this for a long as they can till they cannot do it anymore. It certainly feels like a record is going to go down. Will it be 70+ hours or might someone get to 100 hours? Crazy regardless of the distance completed a complement to the race director and the runners for embracing and engaging in this unique format. We wish them well and will check in on them from time to time in support of this most amazing race experience.
Loving life when I root on the Big’s runners
