On Saturday, just four days from now, ~500 men and ~200 women will toe the line in Atlanta to determine who qualifies for the US Olympic Marathon team. Only the top three make the team and it is amazing to think about how many runners qualified to run the trials. They are all amazing athletes, and all have given their lives to their craft. Many sacrifices along their journey and each of them thrilled to be running in the qualifier even if they know they have a slim chance of making the team. But the odds do not stop anyone from wanting to run the trials. They are all there because it is the opportunity of a lifetime, a chance to feel the rewards of all of the years of training and racing. This is the big stage for sure and it is a privilege to be able to compete in this kind of elite setting. Yes, there will be three selected from the women’s and men’s’ team and for those six we will be incredibly proud and excited. We will also be thrilled for the rest of the incredibly talented group of people who raced and gave it all they had. An amazing experience for all!!!
