While our experience tells us one thing often our emotional being tells us just the opposite. We pick fruit before it is ready even though we know innately it will not taste good enough. We start running even though our ankle is still healing. We stop studying before we have learned the full topic and the list goes on from there. Our patience, generally, is not one of our strong suits. We want “it” now and we just don’t want to wait. And it feels that we are hitting right up against this situation with COVID-19. We are wanting it to be over so bad that we are forecasting that which we do not understand. We don’t have the data or the experience and yet we want to act and move on. This might be a good strategy but maybe we wait a bit longer to see if we were right or not. In the grand scheme of our lives, a few weeks is a proverbial drop in the ocean of our lives. It is time to use our often not used skill of patience to get us through this moment. Maybe it will go faster but maybe a few extra days a few extra weeks will do us all a bit of good. Let’s resist the temptation to pick that fruit just a bit too soon. Ripe fruit is just so much better tasting.
Loving life when I avoid the temptation
