Black History Month

Foundational to each of our respective journeys are fairness, respect, and empowerment, and a commitment to upholding these principles.  Sadly, these tenets have not always been lived up to.  At an intellectual level, it is hard to understand why this would not be considered to be inalienable.  Alas, it is not where we find ourselves. So, we need to use themes and structures available to us in our society to remind us that we need to do better.  The history is laid bare and it is now up to us to keep working to reverse history.  Black History month is good for us as it reminds us of our history and how we have to do everything we can to address it, fix it, and never let it happen again.   A good challenge and a good time to think about how we are each going to do more and make it matter……till we are all indeed equal and respected.
