There are days when being on our journey can make us a rather conspicuous consumer. We do a lot and we use a lot as a result. We remind ourselves all the time that we should reduce, reuse and recycle. What is in our control we should do for the benefit of the earth and our community. And with a bit of effort, we can make an impact. What is encouraging is when we see others doing the same kind of caring and being less wasteful. It is even more exciting when we see commercial entities taking on the same issues and using the form of their business to reduce, reuse and recycle. In the news, Mattel announced that it would be creating a second life program whereby it would recycle doll and toy parts and reuse them to the greatest degree possible. They join Lego who has similarly been reducing the proverbial end of life of toys that go straight to the landfill. With a bit of effort, both companies are building a more sustainable product life-cycle which will allow us to still enjoy toys knowing that they will have less of a negative impact on mother earth. Let’s encourage each other to do what we can, in whatever capacity we can, to take care of the earth and make a positive impact so that she will be here for centuries to come.
