We know that, for the most part, we operate while on our journey at a pace that is faster than necessary. It comes from setting goals, working to achieve them and then getting after the next goal. The faster we go, we tell ourselves, the more we accomplish. What we learn over time is that all of life does not translate into a goal or have a timeline that needs to be completed. It is when we conflate these two ideas of living and goal attainment that we can find our patience can be challenged. We seem to get frustrated when the “rest of life” does not move at the pace that we want it too and we seem not to understand why. And while we can spend time trying to reconcile the unreconcilable it is probably better to realize that we are not in synch with how fast we want the line to go at the grocery store, or how cars should move more quickly through traffic, or how fast someone should answer a question. And when we realize that we cannot control everything we start to be able to accept that life will operate at different speeds and that patience is a strength worth building. We will feel better and get more done with patience and understanding, that is for sure.
Loving life when show patience
