The day after

The ultra-community pushes itself along on the journey and it finds out thath the effort required to complete these races can be quite significant.  Nutrition, physical, mental, they all get pushed into spaces that we don’t go to all that often (even for the most extreme).  And when the race is over the recovery starts and there is a lot to potentially work through.  There is the satisfaction (or not with the effort/result), there is the muscle and joint soreness, of course there is the nutrition deficit to make up and there could be that random injury to address.  Yet, through all of it, give anyone about 24 hours and they are starting to think about the next ultra they are going to do.  The craziness of our life and our journey, that which is hard draws us in and captivates us and, well, we seem to fall for it every time.  So, here’s to the day after and regardless of circumstance on the day after, we should all be ready to think about what’s next, because that is who we are…

Loving life the day after
